Thelma (Tiedt) Baca, 95, of La Grange, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Care Inn of La Grange. Thelma was born in Rutersville, Texas on May 20, 1916, the daughter of the late Fritz and Annie (Marquart) Tiedt. She was the widow of Edwin V. Baca who passed away on October 30, 1990. Thelma and Edwin Baca were married on September 29, 1936 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange. Thelma and Edwin owned and operated the Green Lantern Café in La Grange. Thelma was well known for baking kolaches every Friday morning. She and her husband, Edwin, enjoyed going to dances after closing time. Thelma loved playing "42" dominos, cards and bingo. She also loved gardening. Thelma was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. She is survived by daughter, Carolyn Prause and son, James Roy "J-Roy" Baca and wife, Mary all of La Grange; brother, Edgar Tiedt of Swiss Alp; two brothers-in-law: Leon Reeder of La Grange and Jack Baca and wife, Betty Lou of Houston; two sisters-in-law: Virginia (Janca) Langley of La Grange and Julia Baca of El Campo; three grandsons: Mark Prause and girlfriend, Donna McGraw; Craig Prause and wife, Melanie all of La Grange; and Todd Baca and wife, Christy of Round Rock; two great grandchildren: Hudson and Chloe Baca; one step great granddaughter, Kristen and husband, Lance Cannon of North Dakota; two step great great grandchildren: Nikolas and Jackson Cannon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin V. Baca of 54 years; son-in-law, James "Moxie" Prause; six brothers: Loydie "Buck", Edwin, Westine, Gussie, Carlie, and infant brother Fredrick Tiedt; and three sisters: Elsie Fiebig, Adeline Harbers and Leona Schulze.
