Bio

Funeral services for Mr. Dewey Wilkes McElwee Jr. will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in Davis Crossing Baptist Church, Glenmora, with Rev. Ed Disatell officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Crossing Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Glenmora. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, D. W. was called home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2008. Funeral Services were held on July 22, 2008 officiated by Bro. Ed Disatell, at Davis Crossing Baptist Church. D. W., age 59, was a resident of Glenmora. D. W. will be sadly missed by family and friends, and will be long remembered for his heart of gold. D. W. was an able and enterprising soul who could turn his hand to anything, and often did, to help others. D. W. was a proud member of the P.O.B. Motorcycle club. He was self-employed as a Nursery Hauler for the last 10 years, was a certified welder, and worked offshore for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Francheska Lynn McElwee ; his son, Dewey Wilks "Will" McElwee III ; his grandson, Quentin Tyler Fontenot; his parents, Dewey and Becky McElwee and his brothers, Woody and Donnie. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of thirty-plus years, Janet Winegeart McElwee, who will greatly miss her "Knight in Shining Armor"; his daughter, Shelley Marie Fontenot and her husband, Troy; his son, Duke McElwee and D. W.'s grandchildren: Nicholas Troy Fontenot and his wife, Melody, Benjamin Will Fontenot, Weston, Elizabeth, Seth, Leah, Francheska and Katelyn. D. W. is survived by his sister, Janice McElwee David, his brother, David McElwee and his "brothers at heart", Albert Welch and Charles Roland Winegeart. Pallbearers proud to serve were Duke McElwee, Eric Hilton, Tim Cloud, Heath Cloud, Charles Roland Winegeart and Scotty Richey. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Winegeart and Otto Nessmith.
