Bio

Patsy passed away in Oklahoma City on Thurs., Oct. 27, 2011. She was 74. Patsy was born March 16, 1937 in Slaton, TX to Lee and Ethel (Harrison) Jones. In 1954, at the age of 17, she contracted polio and completed high school and some college courses while receiving iron lung treatments. Rehabilitation in New Mexico allowed her to walk with the help of braces. Patsy and Phillip Maxwell were married Sept. 18, 1959 in Slaton, having been introduced by her life-long friend, Wanda Baker. Homemaking was Patsy's domain and when children came along, their care was her priority. With a love for cooking and three hungry boys, she offered custom breakfasts each morning and then taught them to make their beds with Marine precision. When the boys were older and failed to show sufficient remorse for their actions, discipline was turned over to Dad; the number of licks each deserved was noted daily on the calendar. Patsy's favorite spring-time activity was sitting on the back porch, telling "Pop" what needed to be done in the garden. She was determined to do things on her own and consequently had the "best-looking house on the block" according to her proud family. Strong, loving and up-beat, Patsy is survived by her three sons and their wives; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her two sisters; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Phillip Maxwell, Sr., her parents, two sisters and a brother. Services for Patsy Nell Maxwell were held at 1:00 p.m. today, Nov. 1, 2011 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. ------------------------------- Parent links Suggested By: 𝓓𝓪𝓾𝓰𝓱𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓸𝓯 𝓖𝓻𝓪𝓬𝓮ᥫ᭡, 13 May 2023
