Bio

Joseph Wanek, a resident of the Lost Springs community for the past twenty-five years, passed away at the Lusk hospital at 4:15 p.m., on Wednesday, June 19th, his death being attributed to chronic nephritis. Mr. Wanek had been admitted to the hospital on June 12th and failed to respond to medical treatments given him. The deceased was 49 years and 4 months of age at the time of his death. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at St. Leo's Catholic church in Lusk, with 10 o'clock mass being read by Father Miller. The body was shipped to Hemingford, Nebraska where burial took place. The deceased is survived by his wife, Nora; two daughters, Mrs. Russell Johnson and Mrs. Robert Hudson; four brothers, Louie, Amos and Oscar, all of Hemingford, Nebr., and William of Lost Springs; two sisters Mrs. Joe Bartos of Lost Springs and Mrs. Joe Kennedy of Alliance, Nebr. Joseph Wanek was born at Hemingford, Nebraska, the son of Joseph and Mary Wanek. In 1916 he moved to the Lost Springs community where he ranched until the time of his death. He was preceded in death by both his father and mother. Children Infant Wanek 1913–1913 Infant Wanek 1914–1914 Evelyn Eva Wanek Netz b. July 12, 1918 d, april 27, 1984. Mildred Belle Wanek Hudson b. January 4, 1921 d. February 7, 1985.
