Mary Kay Kapustka, 70, of Ord died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at her home in Ord. Mary Kay was born Aug. 1, 1941, on the family farm at Elyria to Steve and Eva (Dubas) Kapustka. Survivors are: daughters and son-in-law, Heather and Jonathan Lee of Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Elisa Hicks of Denver; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Sawdey of Ord and Phyllis and Gerald Murphy of Greeley, Colo.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman and Dawn Kapustka of Littleton, Colo., and Al and Barbara Kapustka of Tomball, Texas; granddaughter, Sheridan Lee of Wheat Ridge, CO. and a host of relatives and friends. Mary Kay was raised on the family farm and graduated from Ord High School in 1959. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Following college graduation, she taught school in Omaha. She was united in marriage to Dale Hicks. To this union two daughters were born, Heather and Elisa. Mary Kay resided in Colorado Springs, Lafayette and Denver, Colo. She was a private piano teacher and a concert pianist. Due to severe arthritis she was forced to retire from her love of teaching piano. In July of 2009, she returned to Ord to be close to her sister, Virginia Sawdey. Mary Kay was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Music was her life as she enjoyed the piano and classical music. Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents; and nieces, Katrina and Sharon Malolepszy. Inurnment was in the St. Mary's Cemetery at Elyria, NE.
