Bio

Norbert James Strmiska was born January 28, 1936, in Granger, Texas, the son of John and Cecelia (Martinka) Strmiska. Funeral Mass and burial were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Cemetery in Moulton on September 20, 2006 He was a gifted accordionist since the age of five. He served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1955 until 1957. During his service time he served in the special services performing for the troops. He has played for several known polka bands, the Hackemack's Hoffbrau House, and played solos for weddings, birthdays, organizations and nursing homes. He loved his music and everyone loved him. Norbert died September 16, 2006. at the age of 70 years, 7 months, and 18 days. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecelia (Martinka) Strmiska; (1) sister, Mildred Strmiska Batla and her husband Joe. Survivors include: his wife of 18 years, Marilyn Strmiska of LaGrange; (1) son, Joey Strmiska and wife Carrie of Round Rock; (2) step-sons, Clinton A. Taylor III and fiancé Becky Ordiway of LaGrange; Stephen Ray Taylor and wife Jerri Ann of LaGrange; (2) grandsons, Hayden and Heath Strmiska of Round Rock; (6) step-grandchildren, Clint A. Taylor IV, Jay Taylor, Jamie Taylor, Ashley Ordiway, Chelsea Ordiway, Michael Ordiway, all of LaGrange; (1) brother, E.J. Strmiska and wife Leah Rae of Granger; sister-in-law, Judy Zuhn of Leander; brothers-in-law, Martin Koopmann and wife Karen of Austin; Werner Koopmann, Jr. and wife Irene of LaGrange; Wayne Koopmann and wife Tammy of Austin; James Koopmann and wife Janice of Houston; numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers: Clint Taylor IV, Jay Taylor, Stephen Taylor, Joey Strmiska, John Strmiska, Greg Strmiska, Jimmy Dwigans, Gilbert Palla, Hayden Strmiska, Heath Strmiska.
