Funeral services were conducted Wednesday of last west at the Methodist Church in Hastings for Charles Wesley Kelley who died January 11, at Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. The Rev. J. E. Englund officiated. Burila was in Hastings Cemetery. Mansfiield Funeral Home directed arrangements. Mr. Kelley was the son of John B. and Jane Frances Kelley and was born on a farm home north of Hastings, Iowa January 13, 1869. On February 16, 1898 he was united in marriage to Mary Belle McFarland at Malvern. His wife preceded him in death July 3, 1944. To this union was born one daughter, Ruby Schurr Greeson with whom he had made his home for the past ten years. He is also survived by two brothers, John D. of Council Bluffs, and Grover C. of Omaha; three grandson, Donald M. of Shenandoah, Sterling M. of Red Oak, and Darwin H. Schurr of Bedford. Mr. Kelley had spent his entire life in Hastings and vicinity farming until he moved to the home of his daughter. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Woodman of the World Lodges.
