Bio
Mildred Machu Townsend, was born in Granger on May 29, 1923 to Joe and Tracy (Zetak) Machu. She went home to Heaven on Oct. 4, 2011. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Edward Townsend of Round Rock; brother Albin Machu, Sr.; and sisters Vlasta Filla and Hattie Kallaja. Mildred "Granny" is survived by two children: daughter Linda and her husband Storm of Granger, and son Jimmy Townsend and wife Peggy of San Antonio. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Nicci McLaughlin and husband Mike of Austin, Kevin Townsend of Bethesda, Md., Josh Tucker of Austin, Katie Leonard and husband Shawn of Harker Heights, Courtney Burton and husband Aaron of Granger; and three great-grandchildren: Kelci, Autumn and Tenley. Mildred is survived by sisters Sybil Stojanik of San Antonio and Alice Stojanik of Thrall and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Mildred was a member of the Austin Brethren Church, Travis-Williamson County Czech Heritage Society, Round Rock Garden Club and an avid walker. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Live services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8 at Granger Brethren Church.
