Bio
Lois Ann Dawes, 73, of Douglasville, Ga., formerly of Rockland, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, in Marietta, Ga. Born Jan. 10, 1938, in Sugarcreek Township, she was the daughter of Donald and Edith (Tidd) Battin. Lois lived in Rockland until her husband's retirement, when they moved to South Carolina. They returned to this area when her husband's health began to fail. She later returned to South Carolina and more recently to Douglasville, Ga. Lois enjoyed gardening, taking walks and spending time with her family. Lois had a wonderful sense of humor, and particularly enjoyed family activities. She took great pride as a caregiver to those in need. She was married Dec. 15, 1956, in Franklin, to Fred A. "Buss" Dawes Jr., who preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1997. Surviving are five children Billie (LaCarmen) Repoff and husband Jeffery of Johnston, S. C., Tina Repoff and husband Russell of Franklin, Timothy Dawes of Rockland, Theresa Dawes of Rockland and Terry Dawes of Douglasville, Ga.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Joan Ritchey of Florence, S.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Jones and Barbara Rice; and two brothers, Don and Jack Battin. A memorial service to celebrate Lois's life will be held at a later date for the family. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.
