Evans Howell, 76, a resident of Route 1, Trion, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 3:45 pm in Floyd County Hospital. Mrs. Howell was born Sept. 15, 1895 in Marion County, Ala, the daughter of the late John and Zenoma Green Evans and was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Elmon Howell, Route 1, Trion; two daughters, Mrs. Verda Smith and Miss Madge Howell, both of Trion; two sons, Dalton Howell, Trion and Ralph Howell, Estell Spring, Tenn; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Moses and Mrs. Mary Brasseal, both of Brilliant, Ala., Mrs. Ethel Loden, Birmingham, and Mrs. Alice Cantrell, Anniston; one brother, Glenn Evans, Houston, Tex; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00p.m. from the New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. James R. Patterson and Rev. Herman Mills officiating with burial in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Max Garner, Sr., Max Garner, Jr., Michael Gamer, Eugene Smith, Jim Stowe and Bo Loggins. Honorary pallbearers were the Ladies Adult Sunday School Church. Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
