Bio

Mrs. Agnes (McGuire) Lehman, age 89 of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, October 2, at Homestead Nursing Home in Hillsboro. She was born January 21, 1922 in Iredell, Texas, the oldest of seven children, to the late Jessie Lee and Farrie Faye (Ogle) McGuire. She grew up and attended schools in Iredell and graduated from Iredell High School in 1942. After graduating from High School, she moved to Waco and was employed at a manufacturing company that made cot mattresses for the United States military. She met Ernest Lehman, who was a co-worker at the plant, and they were married on July 10, 1942 in Robinson. They later moved to Hillsboro in 1950. Mrs. Lehman was a skilled seamstress and employed at Rose Marie, Malouf and Page Boy Sewing factories from 1953 until 1978, at which time they were closed. She then continued sewing for the public out of her home until age 85. Mrs. Lehman was a very hard worker and even after becoming disabled you could find her still working in her yard and flower beds. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Also preceding her in death was: her husband, Ernest, in 1978; one daughter, Barbara, in 2010 and three sisters. Survivors include: one son, Carl Lehman and wife, Patricia, of Fort Worth; two daughters, Judy Schulz and husband, Kenneth, of New Braunfels and Ruth L. Nors of Hillsboro; one brother, Romie Lee McGuire and wife, Margaret, of Pecan Gap; two sisters, Pearl Pitts of Brownfield and Veda Anderson of McKinney; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
