Dan Wallace was born in the State of Ohio in 1843, and died Oct. 10th, 1914, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. B. Simonton in Clarinda, la., at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 4 days. In early life he moved with his parents to Illinois, where he grew to manhood. At the age of 20 he was united in marriage to Miss Annie Foster, who held his hand faithfully until three years ago, when she preceeded him to the great beyond. To this union were born seven children, Delbert, Martha, Elizabeth, Cylinda, George, Goldie May, and Charley, besides two infant sons who died at a tender age, as did Delbert, leaving four children to survive him, all of whom were present at the funeral. He also leaves one brother, one sister, two sons, Geo. and Chas., besides three daughters, Mrs. Simonton and Mrs. Gorrell of this city, and Mrs. Taylor of Taylor county, la., with twenty-nine grandchildren, eight great grand-children, and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. He, with his wife, moved to Cass county, la., in 1867. In 1868 they moved back to Ohio for one year, returning to Cass county, however, where they remained until the fall of 1883, when they moved to Page county, la., and remained here until death. He lived a quiet, unassuming life, spending most of his life on the farm. He was a good citizen, loving husband and kind father, and a firm believer in the religion of Christ. In fact about three weeks before death he spoke of his readiness to depart this life for the one beyond. CLARINDA HERALD, Clarinda, Iowa, Oct 15, 1914
