Bio

Married July 27, 1895 to Laura Reed, Married December 10, 1910 to Deborah Ella Hughett Son of Gionell Leeper and Sarah Ann Triplett Brown ------ T.M. Brown, Sr, died at Star Rest Home in Merkel. He was born in Ladonia, Texas in Fannin County. He married Ella Andrews in 1910 and moved to Abilene in 1942. In 1901, he started subcontracting railroad work, and following that he did independent contract work for the Frisco Railroad in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1934, he qualified for highway contract work for the State of Texas. When he moved to Abilene in 1942, he established T.M. Brown and Sons Contractors. In 1948, he incorporated with the C. Hunter Strain Company to form Strain-Brown Inc. The company was dissolved in 1954, and he established T.M. Brown and Sons, Inc with offices presently at Tye. He was a member of Associated General Contractors of America. He was the oldest highway contractor in Texas. Survived by his wife; four sons - B.G. Brown, T.B. Brown, T.M. Brown, Jr, J.L. Brown; one step-son; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Abilene Reporter News July 17, 1963
