Bio
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, family member and friend went on to be with our Lord on February 20, 2003 at the age of 84. Merle was born in Newman Grove, NE in 1918 and married Geraldine Case, his loving wife of 56 years, on August 28, 1946. She still resides at their home in Everett, WA. He is survived by his wife Geraldine Arland of Everett; one son Gareld and wife Sherry Arland of Spokane; two daughters Merlene Bognar of Newport Beach, CA and Arlinda and husband Jim Quillin of Everett, WA; six grandchildren, Mark Arland, Stephanie Arland, Michelle Zorger, Dee Dee Bognar, James and Arly Quillin; two great grandchildren Brendan and Bailee Zorger; three surviving brothers, Orville Arland of Torrington, WY, Ray and Lois Arland of Walla Walla, and Ralph Arland also of Walla Walla; two surviving sisters-in-law, Marlyn and Margaret Arland; and son-in-law Vance Bognar. Merle and Jerry resided in Walla Walla for 33 years where he was in the body and fender repair business, much of that time owning his own business. We're going to miss Merle, who has been the lighthouse of our family. Merle was a friend to everyone who met him and the greatest husband and father we could have ever had. Your family, We love you. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24th at Lynnwood Church of the Nazarene, 5326 176th St. S.W., Lynnwood, WA. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23rd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA and Monday from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Lynnwood Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett, WA. Published in The Herald (Everett) on February 22, 2003
