American Fork Citizen, American Fork, Utah, 25 Oct 1995 Thomas E. West , died Oct 22, 1995 at home in Pleasant Grove after a long illness. He was born Feb. 1, 1919 to E. Thomas and Chloe Freeman West in Pleasant Grove. He married Lela Myers Feb. 28, 1941 in Heber. They were later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple. He served in World War II in the European Theater as a medic in the 4th Infantry Division. He returned to Pleasant Grove and worked at Geneva Steel for 33 years. He is survived by his wife of Pleasant Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Petrea M. West, American Fork; brothers, Don and Ralph West, both of Pleasant Grove; sister, Mary Roberts, Salt Lake City; grandchildren: David Hiatt, Vista, Calif; Lisa Hamilton, St. George; Ben West, Cedar City; Anna West, Logan; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane West Hiatt; brother, Reed; sisters, Alva Edna Atkinson and Hazel Strasburg. He was also preceded in death by infant grandsons, Christopher Hiatt and Stacy Murdock West. Friends may call at Olpin Mortuary, 500 S. 300 on Thursday from 10 to 11 am. A brief memorial service will follow at the mortuary at 11 am with interment in the Pleasant City Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
