Bio

Bill Smith Services for Billy R. Smith have been set for 1 p.m. Monday at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Ashlock of Crestview Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Smith died Friday at his home. He was born July 17, 1929, in Leonard. He moved to Midland from Greenville in 1952. He retired from Midland County in 1991 after 32 years of service. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Smith, on Feb. 7, 1993, and a son, Kenneth M. Smith in 1981. Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Smith of Spring and Timmy R. Smith of Midland; two daughters, Sheila R. Way of Midland, and Tammy K. Smith of Midland; three brothers, Linsaey Smith of Midland, Raymond Smith of Sherman, and R.J. Smith of Lone Oak; and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family has requested memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland. Source: Midland Reporter Telegram June 25, 1995
