Bio

Last rites will be held this afternoon for Mrs. Mattie Virginia Powers, 62, resident here 18 years, who died Tuesday at her home. Survivors include a son, Kemp Ward Powers of Port Arthur; four daughters, Mrs. W.C. Bookman of Beaumont, Mrs. H.F. Pintsch of Woolston, Mass., Mrs. Ed Perkins of Beaumont, Mrs. Paul Gregg of Houston, and eight grandchildren. Services this afternoon will be at 4:30 in the Roberts parlors, with Rev. Harry Hodge, pastor of Sabine Tabernacle, officiating, assisted by Rev. L.D. White of the Magnolia Avenue Baptist church. Burial will follow in Magnolia cemetery. Parents: F.W. Ward, b.
