He married Leona (Mankins) Brown on Nov. 25, 1956, in Harris County, Texas. At the time of his death, they were living in Richmond, Fort Bend, Texas. His nickname "Cy" comes from a 1964 letter Leona wrote to her half-brother Isaac Johnson Mankins of Bartlett, Texas.
