Amy Joyce Adams, 83, of DeRidder, La passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011,at DeRidder Retirement and Rehabiliation Center. Graveside Services were Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. The minister officiating was Rev. Jerome Hayes. Amy, the youngest of three children, was born December 3, 1927, to Talmage and Bertha Cooley in DeRidder, LA. Her first employment was working as a sales clerk at Joubans in downtown DeRidder, where she met her husband of 60 years, James O. Adams, while selling him a suit for his father. Amy was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who lived her life caring for her family and assisting and supporting those she loved. Amy was a constant source of love and support as her husband, James O. Adams, attended vocational school to become a watch maker and jeweler and established their business, Adams Jewelry, in DeRidder. She was a helpmate to James in all things, whether in their business keeping books and waiting on customers or tending their garden and livestock. Since Adams Jewelry was next to their home, Amy and James were able to be together almost constantly. James once said lovingly of his wife, we are "always together, together always", and requested that one day those words be placed on their memorial. Amy also devoted her life to her two daughters, Mary and Susan. She was a loving and supportive mother who encouraged her children to reach their full ptential and she devoted her life to caring for her daughter, Susan, who was born mentally retarted. She felt blessed that God had entrusted her to care for Susan and she was one of the many joys in her life. Amy is survived by two daughters, one son-in-law and one sister of DeRidder. Amy is preceded in death by her hsuband, James O. Adams; her parents, Talmage and Bertha Cooley and her brother, Volney Cooley. Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder
