Bio

Everett Glen Zierlein, age 92, of Lake McConaughy, passed away September 11, 2011 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He grew up in the Sand hills until leaving for WWII. He served in the U.S. Army in Normandy, France, Rhineland, and Central Europe from 1941 to 1945. He returned to the Sand hills and married Lula Hopkins on December 18, 1946. He ranched on the family ranch near Arnold for many years. He married Burnice Dickenson in 1981. He retired to Lake McConaughy in the early 80's. Everett was a member of the American Legion; he loved to fish and hunt, he got a deer just last year at the age of 92. he has had a hunting permit every year since 1946. As a young man, he enjoyed trapping and continued all his life. He was an excellent musician, playing for dances with his family. Survivors are, Stanley (Sharon) Zierlein of Pinedale, Wyoming, Sandra (Wayne) Anderson of Chadron, NE., Richard Zierlein of Ansley, NE., Barbara (Dahl) Jungren of Broken Bow; a special friend Arlene Jepsen of North Platte; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Christopher) Leimbeck, Michelle Zierlein, Tyrel (Jessica) Zierlein, Lance Zierlein, Michael (Michelle) Anderson, Vinson Zierlein, Ginger (Jeff) Snyder, Kristopher (Christina) Jungren and Daniel Jungren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Zierlein of Cody, Wyoming; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established to the Arnold American legion.Graveside services will be Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with full Military Honors.Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
