Bio

Nancy Tennessee Wilson was the daughter of Samuel and Polly Mount Wilson. The Wilson's were from Marshall County, Tennessee having come to Navarro Couney around 1864 when Nancy was 8 or 9 years of age. Nancy Tennessee was well thought of by all in the community and was known as "Aunt Sis" because she was always willing to help those in need during times of sickness or death,etc. She was married to Littleton Scott Stringer. He died at an early age and she was left to raise 10 young children. Taken from the Normangee Star Vol XXIV No 44 Death of Mrs. Nancy Stringer Mrs. Nancy Tennessee Stringer died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. E.S. Wilson, Monday night, August 24 at 8 o'clock, after a two week illness. Mrs. Stringer was born in Tennessee April 24, 1856, being 80 years, 4 months old. Nancy Tennessee Wilson was married to Scott Stringer in September 1874. To this union were born 10 children, 8 of whom survive. Her husband died February 10, 1899. Two children preceded her in death, an infant in 1899, and John Stringer who died August 9, just two weeks before his mother passed away. Mrs. Stringer became a member of the Church of Christ in 1874 and continued in active service for the Lord for 62 years. The following children survive : Mrs. Emma Stuart of Miles; Mrs Bertie Skinner of Madisonville; Mrs Mollie Hardaway of Kerens; Elbert D Stringer of Kerens; Sam E. Stringer of Midway; Huey Stringer of Arizona; Lilton S. Stringer of Miles and W. Tommie Stringer of NOrmangee.
