Note Research of the above census years show that his given name is WALTER, and that is the name on his marker. It is unknown why the name listed for the grave location is William K. Alexander. Possibly he used the name Walter and William interchangeably, it is unknown why he is referred to a William some of the time. The obituary and also the death certificate agree with the cemetery listing that the man's name is William, and the dates match. There is not a listing for a Walter Alexander in the cemetery records. William K. Alexander was the second husband of Ida Ausmus [Fotheringham] Alexander. He was a retired farmer and they resided in rural Marion township, Jasper county, Missouri outside of Carthage. He passed away at his home of a stroke and chronic heart disease at age 93 years, 2 months & 7 days.
