Bio

S1 US NAVY WORLD WAR II Clarence Dale, age 80, of Cheyenne wells, passed away December 26, 2002 at Colorado Springs. Dale was born November 19, 1922 at Chambers, Nebraska to Clarence W. and Daisy M. (Palmer) Gumb. Dale married Marjorie Ann Banks July 21, 1943 in O'Neill, Nebraska. To this union was born two sons, Jackson Jay Gumb and Michael Leroy Gumb and a daughter Daisey Dianne Gumb, who died at birth. Marjorie passed away December 18, 1951. Dale Married Julia Yvonne Kolb Kline on May 24, 1953 at Burwell, Nebraska. Dale was a member of the Cheyenne Wells United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was a member of the local VFW, and was a Boy Scout leader for a number of years. Dale enjoyed camping, fishing, table and card games, gardening, and working with his hands. Especially with fixing fence on the ranch, and as a general fix-it man. Dale retired from the Colorado State Highway Department of Maintenance after 20 years. Dale is survived by his wife Yvonne of Cheyenne wells, three sons Jackson J. Gumb and wife Nancy of Topeka, Kansas, Michael L. Gumb and wife Mindy of Denver; Clayton L. and wife Sandra Kline of Colorado City; two daughters Shirley and husband Jim Seib of Colorado Springs, and Lorraine K. Kline of Ord, Nebraska; two brothers William and wife Darlene Gumb of Colorado Springs and Ray and wife Margie Gumb of Burwell, Nebraska; five sisters Norma and husband George Dunkel of Valentine, Nebraska, Doris Bilstein of Chambers, Nebraska, Lily Hoxsie of Woonsocket, South Dakota, Wilda George of Winner, South Dakota, Ilene and husband Frank Hulinsky of Broken Bow, Nebraska. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, also with recent additions to the family there are now six more grandchildren and nine more great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Marge Buhlke. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cheyenne Wells United Methodist Church in Cheyenne Wells with Pastor Ralph Bullock, officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the Fairview Cemetery at Cheyenne Wells. Memorials are suggested to the Cheyenne Wells United Methodist Church or the Cheyenne Wells Fire Department and may be left in care of the Eastern Colorado Bank.
