Mary A. Honza Patak, age 85, a lifelong resident of Ennis, Texas passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, Arlington, Texas. Mary Anastasia Honza was born April 15, 1926 in Bardwell, Texas. She was the fourth of nine children of Joe F. and Anastasia Honza. She grew up on her parent's farm, and graduated from Bardwell High School in 1944 as the Salutatorian of her class. She met her future husband, Joe Stanley Patak in 1942 and they were married on November 5, 1946. In 1958, Joe and Mary moved their family to Bardwell, Texas to pursue a farming career. Along with working side by side with Joe on the farm and raising seven children, Mary took great pride in her vegetable garden, which provided for the family year round. Many friends and family also enjoyed the vegetables that came from her garden. Mary was a wonderful cook and accomplished seamstress, and loved her family and friends greatly. Mary was a member of St. John Catholic Church, a former officer of the KJT #35, and a former officer of the KJZT #16. Mary is survived by her sisters: Adell Honza and Sr. Mary Ann Honza; brothers: Adolph Honza, Lawrence Honza and Jerry Honza; sisters in-law: Louise Honza, Lucy Honza, Ruth Honza, Carol Honza, Josephine Grmela and Evelyn Patak; children: Linda and husband Charlie Stump, James Patak, Rita and husband Adolph Zaidle, Donna and husband Mark Simpson, Robert and wife Jan Roebuck Patak, Lori and husband Ronny Fairless, and Patti and husband Gary Gunter; eight granddaughters and one grandson, four grandsons in-law, one granddaughter in-law, six great grand children, and special friends, Glenn and Tracey Skrivanek and sons. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Patak. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; sister: Rosa Ann Honza; brothers: Joe Honza Jr. and Leo Honza; brothers in-law: Edwin Patak and Wesley Patak; sister in-law: Lillian Salik Patak, daughter in-law: Brodwynne King Patak and granddaughter: Deborah Zaidle. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 begin at 6 until 8 p.m. with the Wake service at 7 pm in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 10 am in the St. John Catholic Church, Ennis, Texas with interment following at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Ennis, Texas.
