The Athens Review Memorial services for James Robert "Coke" Stephenson 72, of Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at Lake Athens Baptist Church in Athens with Brother John Green officiating. He passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 in Athens. James was born Oct. 1, 1938 in Kilgore to Joe and Betty Attway Stephenson. James lived in Athens since 1986 coming from Longview. He loved fishing, carpentry and motorcyles. He was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Kenneth Stephenson, Joe Stephenson, Billy Stephenson, Charles Stephenson; two sisters Joann Rozell and Wanda Stewart. James is survived by his daughter, Theresa Wiley and husband Larry of Broken Bow, Okla.; daughter, Sharon Connett and husband Terry of Palm Bay, Fla.; son, James V. Stephenson of Athens; daughter, Jennifer Baggett and husband Kenneth of Athens; daughter, Kimberly Jones of Orlando, Fla.; son, John Stephenson of El Paso; son, Joseph Stephenson and wife Kristina of Clute; two brothers, Bobby Stephenson of Kemah and Barry Stephenson of Channelview; three sisters, Barbara Paeltier of Houston, Patsy Stewart of Carthage, and Georgia Durpee; 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
