Bio

∼ Barbara Ruth (George) Clampitt of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Denton, departed this world for her home in Heaven on October 20, 2016. Barbara was born on March 23, 1931, in Denton, Texas to James (Jim) and Ruth Sparks George. She married the love of her life Emmitt Logan Clampitt on March 17, 1951 in the home of her parents, Jim and Ruth Sparks George. Emmitt and Barbara were married 17 days shy of 64 years. Barbara graduated from North Texas Demonstration High School in 1948. She attended Arlington Baptist Seminary. Emmitt and Barbara made their home in Denton, Texas until 1972 when they moved to Floydada, Texas, then to Plainview, TX, Lovington, NM and finally to Lubbock, TX in 2001. Barbara taught Sunday School and served her church in any way that she was needed. She often sang specials for all occasions. She and her husband were in the ministry for over 50 years. Barbara's family was a precious part of her life. Her Lord was first, Emmitt, was second and her children,grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were third. Her love of their dogs was unbelievable. Her willingness to serve others will truly be missed by all that knew her. She was a very caring woman who loved life to its fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband Emmitt Logan Clampitt, her parents, James (Jim) and Ruth (Sparks) George, 4 brothers, Clovis, Robert (Bob), Roland & Harold, and 1 sister, Inez Boyd. Left to cherish her memory are, Harold Eugene McGar of Denton Texas, two daughters, Gaya and Brady Perkins of Lubbock, and Kathy and Danny Knox of Plainview, grandchildren: James Harold McGar, Tammy Farmer, Danny Joe McGar-Clampitt, Kristopher Harold McGar , Mike Hale, Melissa Kramer, Jeff Quisenberry, and Lisa Ramos, 17 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Visitation will be Sunday October 23, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton Texas. Burial will be Monday October 24, 2016 at 10:00 A.M at Valley View Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas Tuesday October 25, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. Denton Record-Chronicle on Oct. 22, 2016 ∼
