Bio

son of Evan Williams - Nancy Robbins According to information from Breckenridge, Texas in our research files - J.H. Williams, 86, pioneer of Stephens County, died at the home of his son Greenville Williams at San Angelo. The body was transferred to Breckenridge and buried at the Clark Cemetery, near the old home place at Crystal Falls. Williams came to Stephens County in 1871 and settled at Crystal Falls, later moving to a ranch north of Crystal Falls. Mr. Williams was active in community welfare work and was regarded as one of the foremost citizens of Stephens County during his long life in the county. A few years ago, he went to San Angelo to make his home in his old age with his son. His wife preceded him to the grave 40 years ago. Two children also preceded him to the grave: Mrs. Jack Campbell and Mrs. Alex Woods. Survived by Mrs. Jack Johnson; James W. Williams; Mrs. B.G. Stover; Greenville Williams. Obituary shows he was burned at Jim Kurn, Texas - records in Breckenridge, Texas reveal location is near the Jim Kurn Ranch in Stephens County during 1928. Note - death certificate shows J.W. Williams, but funeral home records and obituary show J.H. Williams. Family records show his names - James Harris Williams and James Horace Williams were used interchangeably. -------- His name according to the Williams Bible is James Horace Williams, Sr., although it can be found several ways in varying census records. James H. Williams, Sr., was my husband's great grand-father. My husband's grandfather was Green Williams, his mother's father. [email protected]
