Charley Andrew Baker SHAWN was born 8 April 1890 in Wise County, Texas to John Thompson and Nancy Scott Shawn. To this researcher he is known as Charley Andy Baker Shawn, but Charley Andrew Baker Shawn members of his family said he was known as Charley Andrew and they were not aware of him being called Charley Andrew Baker Shawn. Charley's grandfather's name was Andrew Baker Shown and he was named after his grandfather who was Andrew BAKER. Charley's siblings numbered eleven, for a total of twelve known children born of his parents. The children were: William Tipton, Mary Bony (Nall), John Franklin, Rhoda Elizabeth (Grissly), George Cereno, Stewart Elbert, Benjamin Harrison "Ben," Charley Andrew Baker, Henry Garner Emerson, Rector Roy, Clay Barry, and Ova Eveline (Laird). Charley married Mary Arnnie Hunt on 2 March 1908 in Decatur, Wise County, Texas. There were six known children born of their union: Aaron Thomas, John Doyle, Hubert Andrew, Cora Lavera (Haynes, Alley), Esther Dorothen (Havens), and Martha Arnnie Lee (Stovall, Turpen). Mary Arnnie Hunt Shawn died in 1927 and is buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. After her death Charley married his second wife Anna H. Hays Sales, the widow of Fred Sales. She had three children, a son Leon, and two daughters Vina and Freda Sales. Charley and Arnnie had one son, Charles William "Charlie." Arnnie died in August 1933 and is buried in the Tecumseh Cemetery,Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma. Charley married his third wife, Viola McAfee on 12 May 1934, Sebastian County, Arkansas. There were two chidren born of this marriage and they were Charley Andrew "C. A." and Alice Faye (Mathis, Ramsey). Charley worked for almost thirty-four years for the Rock Island railroad, before his retirement ca 1957. On the 1930 Oklahoma Census his occupation was listed as "wheel borer in rail shop." Charley Andrew Baker Shawn died in a hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma on 27 July 1966. SHAWN EL RENO --- Services for Charley A. Shawn, 76, of El Reno, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Trlnity Baptist Church, El Reno, with burial in El Reno Cemetery. He died Wednesday in Hillcrest Hospital, Oklahoma City. Shawn was born in Wise County, Texas, and moved to Shawnee 1917, settling in El Reno in 1943. He was a retired carman for the Rock Island 25-year Club. He attended Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Violet; six daughters, Mrs. Woodrow Havens and Mrs. Lee Mathis, both of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Bill Alley, Fort Worth; Mrs. Bob Turpin, Moore; Mrs. Jack Wakefield and Mrs. Sylvester Tech, both of El Reno; five sons, Aaron, Fort Worth; Doyle, Greenville, S. C.; Hubert, Midland, Texas; Charley, San Antonio, and C. A., Oklahoma City; a sister, Mrs. Tim Laird, Bowie, Texas, and three brothers, Ben, of Westville; Clay, Weatherford, Texas, and George, Bridgeport, Texas.
