Louisa Sarah Oliver Moodie bough one of the first lots sold in Douglassville, Texas hen the town was established. She had brought her family to Cass County from Greenville, Alabama, Butler County, after the death of her husband Rev. Dr. Francis Winfred Moodie in 1854. Her sister, Maria Oliver Carlow's husband, Sylvester Carlow, had also died about the same time and left her with a large family, so these wiows and their children joined their brother, Samuel Oliver, Jr., and his wife Eliza Carter and family, and Margaret Oliver Carlow, their father's sister who had moved to America from Dublin, Ireland, after the death of her husband James Carlow and had brought her two sons for Ireland, Sylvestor and Andrew. She had remarried a Mr. Gafford or Grafford and they also went along. Various other families from the area also went on this trek to Texas.
