Funeral services for Elmer Morris are scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 at Maxwell Ave Church of Christ with Ron Benedick and Dr. Virgil Trout officiating. Interment will follow in Ringling Cemetery. Elmer was born March 8, 1923 to Leonard and Vera Loyd Morris in Loco, Ok. He passed this life on August 27, 2011 at his residence in Ardmore. He and Velma Lee Austin were married September 20, 1943 in Riverside, Ca. They had two sons Danny Jay and Kerry Lee. Elmer was a faithful servant of his Lord and an active member of Maxwell Ave. Church of Christ in Ardmore. He served our country in the US Army and fought in WWII and became a POW during the Battle of the Bulge. Upon his release from the Army he and Velma made their home in Ringling, Oklahoma moving on to OKC and retiring from Tinker Air Force base. Survivors include Danny Jay Morris of Ardmore, 2 granddaughters Danielle Lee and Genevieve Morris both of California, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Emmitt Morris and wife Pat of Ringling, Oklahoma and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Velma Lee of 51 years, one son Kerry Lee Morris, both his parents and 4 sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Elmer Morris's name to Cross Timbers Hospice at 207 "C" street NW Ardmore, Ok 73401. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ronnie Taylor, Mike Warden, Micky Morris, Buddy Webb, GW Austin, Pug Allen.
