Mr. Clayton was well known throughout Converse County and this part of the state. He operated a ranch for many years south of Glenrock in the Boxelder community. He married Gertrude Lythgoe of Carbon, Wyoming in Douglas, Wyoming on Sept. 9, 1916. Around the First World War era, he was deputy sheriff in Glenrock for four years, and later served many years as a mail carrier. He was a county commissioner for 12 years prior to becoming county assessor, which he has held for the last nine years. Survivors are Mrs. Clayton and one son, Everett; one brother, Vern of Idaho City, Idaho; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack Hajny, Longmont, Colo., and Mrs. Richard Hanson, Denver. There are four grandchildren. Information was obtained from his obituary and cemetery records.
