The Tecumseh Chieftain, Tecumseh, NE - Thur, 10 Dec 1959 W. Earl McCandless, 67, formerly of Tecumseh, died at his home in Omaha Saturday, December 5, 1959. Mr. McCandless was born at Butler, Pa., November 5, 1892, being a son of Conrad S. and Laura (Conn) McCandless. He moved to Lincoln in 1909, where he completed his education. His marriage to Gertrude Fager took place August 4, 1911. Two daughters, and a son who died in infancy, were born to them. Mr. McCandless managed groceries and worked for Fairmont Foods until 1936, when he opened a wholesale-retail dairy products store in Tecumseh, which he operated until 1945. Later he worked in the Chief Drug Store in this city, but moved to Omaha several years ago when his health failed. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; daughters, Mrs. Lois Buman of Omaha and Mrs. Doris Jane Welsch of Wichita, Kans.; brothers, C. B. "Budd" M. McCandless of Lincoln and Robert McCandless of Golden, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. Bryan Kennedy of Lincoln. Services were held in Lincoln at Wadlow's Mortuary.
