☆～ VETERAN, CIVIL WAR (1861-1865) ～☆ Conrad S. McCandless was born Oct 20, 1856, in Butler county, Pennsylvania, and died July 25, 1945, at his home in Lincoln. He had reached the age of 88 years, 9 months and 25 days. He was the son of Joseph and Effie Jane McCandless. On Jun 1, 1882, he was united in marriage to Laura Conn. In 1904, he and his family came to Nebraska where he was a contractor until about 1917 when he became the house carpenter for the Orthopedic hospital. He worked there for 18 years and retired about ten years ago. He leaves his wife, Laura; three sons, Cecil B. McCandless of Lincoln, Capt. Robert B. McCandless in France, and W. E. McCandless of Tecumseh; one daughter, Mrs. Bryan F. Kennedy of Lincoln; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph McCandless of Elwood City, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Effie J.
