Bio

Sioux Valley News, 5 December 1889, page 3: Mrs. Martha Bernard, aged 41 years, died at her home near Rock Branch on November 15, 1889. Mrs. Bernard was one of those women that everybody loved and was a kind and affectionate mother. She was born in Canada in 1848. She leaves a husband and seven children, and was buried in the Catholic Cemetery north of Lucky Valley. We did not learn the cause of her death. A large attendance at the funeral services, conducted by a Father from Sioux City, was demonstrative of the warm feelings between the deceased and her friends.
