Bio

William E. "Bill" Wagahoft, 65, of Lovington passed away 4:20 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 in his home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, Lovington. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Lovington Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Bill. Bill was born May 23, 1942 in Decatur; the son of William M. and Lora E. (Parr) Wagahoft. He was a 1960 graduate of Lovington High School, and attended Eastern Illinois University and received many trade certificates. He married Kris (Islakar) Ryan October 27, 1995 in Decatur. Bill retired from Ecoff Trucking, Tuscola and was a thirty year OTR Haz Mat truck driver. He was a member and past chief of Lovington Volunteer Fire Department, past member of Dora Volunteer Fire Department, past president, secretary-treasurer of Okaw Fire Protection Association, acting zoning administrator for the village of Lovington, and member of Prairie Land Frontiersman Black Powder Gun Club of Sullivan. His greatest love was being Santa for the village of Lovington and the surrounding communities. Bill is survived by his wife, Kris; stepchildren Jeanitta (Mark) Shoraga, Annitta Voorhees, Michelle Brown and Michael (Barb) Ryan; Step-Grandchildren Jessica (Eric), Josh, Caleb, Cassidy, Samantha, Miranda, Maryssa, Mariah, Mykaela, Stephen, and Sean; Step-Great Grandchildren Mercedes and Donavan; Nieces and Nephews Alison (Scott) Lefebvre, Andrew J. "AJ" (Cherie) Wagahoft, Jim E. (Billie) Wagahoft, Robert "Bobby" F. Weltig Jr. and Carey A. (Ryan) Cain; Great Nieces and Nephews Willem, Audrey, Brandon, Lavina, Cody, Cayla, Chloe, Lily and Luke. He is also survived by his first wife Barb, uncle Omer Wagahoft and special cousin Ginny Lou. Bill was blessed to have many friends through school, email, Lovington, Lake City, and work. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim and sister Priscilla. Kris would like to thank Dr. Dan Smith, Dr. Trachtenberg, DMH Wound Care staff, DMH Physical Therapy, Dr. Esparaz, DMH Oncology, DMH Hospice, and many others that helped with Bill's care.
