PRAGUE – Jerry E. Hampl, 80, of Prague, died July 25 at Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo. Hampl was born April 11, 1931, to Bohumil and Marie (Dressler) Hampl in Prague. He attended grade school in Prague and graduated from Prague High School in 1949. He served in the United States Marine Corps from August 1949 to May of 1950. He was immediately called back to duty and served until April of 1952. He married Dorothy Havelka on Dec. 30, 1950. Prague was his home for his entire life. He worked for 40 years for Kingery Construction in Lincoln as a crane operator. He was a member of Prague American Legion Post 254 and had served on the Prague Town Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill, George, Eddie, Emil and Max; sisters, Marie Sedlacek, Sylvia Cech and Mildred Arceri. He is survived by his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Hampl and special friend, Sharon Beltz of Winside, Robert and Connie Hampl of Lincoln, Douglas and Christine Hampl of Prague; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Larry Snitily of Prague; grandchildren, LeAnn (Mike) Pence, Christopher (Maria) Snitily, Renee (Casey) Dunson, Ami Andrews, Andy Hampl and fiance Brittney Novak, Lindsi (Jason) McNair, Kyli Hampl, Seth Hampl, Noah Hampl; great grandson, Carter Snitily; sister, Margaret Polacek of Fremont; numerous nephews and nieces. A funeral service was held Friday, July 29 at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Interment was at the Prague National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 254; Casket bearers were Ken Havelka, Curtis Havelka, Ken Cejka, Adrian Havelka, Dan Havelka and Dave Odvody. Memorials may be made to Prague Fire and Rescue Department. Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo was in charge of the arrangements. Published in Wahoo Newspaper from July 29 to August 10, 2011
