Bio
Plez Corder MARION – Plez K. Corder passed away June 8 at Guilford Health Care Center after a brief illness. He was 84. Mr. Corder moved to Greensboro in 1967, where he worked as a mechanic for Covington Diesel. In 1982 he returned to his native Virginia, where, after several years as an operator of heavy equipment, he was able to retire to the "peace and satisfaction" of his shady front porch overlooking the valley where he had been born and raised. Mr. Corder was the youngest of 10 children of the late H. Ramey Corder and Manervia Holbrook Corder of Wise County. Although predeceased by all of his siblings, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Brooks Corder of Coeburn; three daughters, Candace Henderson of Gibsonville, N.C., Jill Prevette of Randleman, N.C., and Susan Vollmuth of Lake Barrington, Ill. He leaves behind him seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Beloved father and grandfather, gone to wait for us in heaven, as he was waiting for us on earth. Mr. Corder will have a graveside service Sunday, June 10 at 11 a.m. at Gilmore Memorial Park in Julian, N.C. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 16th at Mary's Chapel, Coeburn. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Hospice Care provider. George Brothers Funeral Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
