REQUIEM MASS HELD SATURDAY FOR R. W. POWELL Death Came To Resident Who Had Lived In This Area Forty-Seven Years; He Was 71 Years Of Age He was born August 16, 1879 at Kansas City, Missouri to Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Powell. The family later moved to Denver, where the father was a blacksmith in the Union Pacific Railroad shops. "Bob" spent his youth in Denver and attended public schools there and around Yuma. On October 31, 1904 he married Miss Josephine Blach in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Miss Lena Blach and Mr. Duncan McCall. Mr. and Mrs. Powell started married life on their homestead eight miles northeast of Yuma where they continued to reside until the passing of Mrs. Powell in 1944. He was preceded in death by his wife Josie, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Powell, his sister Anna Mae and a grandson Melvin LeRoy Hutt. Survived by a daughter and her husband of Haxtun; and two grandchildren.--Yuma Pioneer, Thursday, April 5, 1951
