Bio
Lois M.E. Fillinger, 91, of Grand Island, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Lois was born on Dec. 31, 1919, to William and Dora (Baldwin) Murphy in Greeley County. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, George Fillinger. Survivors are: brother, Joe Murphy of St. Paul; special friend, Joni, and several nieces and nephews. Lois received her education in Scotia and Ord, Neb. She was united in marriage to George A. Fillinger on Jan. 26, 1942 in Greeley. They lived in Kearney for several years prior to moving to Grand Island. Lois was a homemaker who enjoyed working with her husband. Her greatest enjoyment in life was her family. She was of the Catholic faith. Lois was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ray and Leo Murphy; and sister, Rosetta Cronk. Graveside services were at the Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on July 31, 2011
