Bio
He was the son of Bejamin Franklin and Nancy Jane (Waller) Melvin. He lived in Ringgold county until 35 years of age, then moved to Decatur county where he has since resided. He was married to Josephin Cooper September 15, 1892. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Bessie Cleo Weldon, of Rock Island Illinois, Mrs Fern Irene Partlow of Des Moines, Iowa, and Lois Faye of Des Moines, Iowa. Eight years ago at the death of a son-in-law Clyde Weldon, they took the three boys, Garland, Gerald and Kenneth and have since cared for them as their own. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. of Elston, Iowa, also the Farmers Union of White Hall local. He was a member of the Brethren church. He leaves to mourn his depature his devoted wife, three daughters, three grandsons, his mother, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Brethren church of Leon Wednesday, March 14, conducted by Ray Caud Studebaker. Interment was in the Leon cemetery.
