Note - Birth and death dates in obituary do not match the dates on the stone. Nancy Jane Melvin, daughter of Elijah and Sarah Miller, was born March 15, 1852, and departed this life December 2, 1930, aged 78 years, eight months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Melvin on November 10, 1872, and to this union was born one son, Billie Cordell, both husband and son having preceded her in death. In her early life she united with the Christian church of which she was still a member at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her departure three grandchildren, Mrs. Bessie Rummins of Peoria, Ill., Ferne Irene Partlow and Lois Faye Kennedy, both of Des Moines; three great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church of Ellston Thursday, December 4, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. L. G. Wolfe. Interment was made at the Ellston cemetery.
