Occupation: Farming MO d/c 19247 DIED YESTERDAY MORNING Rites for L. Batterson at Methodist Church Tomorrow Leonard Batterson, one of Scotland county's fine citizens, who moved from his farm east of Memphis to Memphis few months ago, died at his home, 114 North Knott street, yesterday morning, May 31, at 7 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted at the Memphis Methodist church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. A. M. Hadley of Milton. Interment will be in the Memphis cemetery. The Chappell sisters will sing, and the pall bearers selected include Earl Smith, Clyde Wright, Everett Hopkins, Howard Mayfield, Arthur D. Fogle and Wm. Bice, neighbors of Mr. Batterson when he lived in the Salem community. Mr. Batterson was born in Washington county, Iowa, on August 18, 1864, being 79 years of age last August. He was married to Miss Mary Elizabeth Dayton in Washington county, Iowa, on July 30, 1888. They lived in South Dakota and moved to Scotland county in the 90s, having lived here about fifty years. Mr. Batterson is survived by the wife and two sons, Rev. Newton H. Batterson of Memphis and Thomas David Batterson, Fulton, Mo. One son, Lerov Batterson, died a few years ago. He is also survived by three brothers, Chas. Batterson, Mayetta, Kansas; Celia Batterson, Akron, Colo.; George Batterson, Texhoma, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Dolly Schoff and Mrs. Nellie Huff, Mayetta, Kansas; Polly Batterson, Seymour, Iowa; two grandsons, Floyd L. Batterson, Long Beach, Calif., and Ens. Leonard A. Batterson, St. Louis; five granddaughters, Mrs. Imogene Stotts, Memphis; Mrs. Edleigh Hanson, Rush City, Minn.; Mrs. Cora May Olandkah, Duluth, Minn.; Mrs. Fay Purdin, Hurdland, Mo., and Miss Mary Belle Horn, Memphis: also four great grandsons.
