Ross Frank Wilson, son of Jacob Clarence and Nancy Catherine Wilson, was born January 7, 1885, in Marshalltown, Iowa, and passed from this earthly life on October 19, 1942, two days after his thirty-seventh wedding anniversary, at the age of 57 years, 9 months, and 12 days. He came to Kansas with his parents when 10 years of age and remained a citizen of the state through life. On October 17, 1905, he married Elizabeth Nelson. To this union there were born three children; one son, Wilmer Wilson, and two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Young and Mrs. Rose Larrison. He made his home in Holton, and worked for F. W. Dixon for 12 years. He later moved to the farm and followed this occupation through the remaining years. He was a great lover of his home and family. He has been a patient sufferer since he underwent a major operation over a year ago. He is survived by his wife and three children; six grandchildren, Melvena, Carrol and Leonard Young and Rowena, Anita and Willard Dean Wilson; one sister, Mrs. Fred Huddle of Mayetta; one half-sister, Mrs. Charlie Shoff of Mayetta; for half-brothers, Charlie Batterson of Mayetta, C. Batterson of Greeley, Colo., Leonard Batterson of Missouri, and George Batterson of Texahoma, Okla; one niece, Mrs. Bess Vincent and one nephew, Robert Shoff. Services were held in the Gabel and McAsey Funeral Home on October 22, 1942, with Rev. Owen W. Prince, minister, officiating. Interment at Holton. Delmar Hune, Paul Whitcraft, Charlie Hawks, Earl Snyder, Edgar and Everett Bohannon served as pallbearers. Soloist was Mr. W. W. Steeples, accompanied by Mrs. Steeples.
