Sim E. Calvert Sim E. Calvert, 74, of Jasper died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at the Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at the Mt. Joy Baptist Church with burial in the Mt. Joy Baptist Cemetery in Curry. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Joy Baptist Church for over 30 years and a business owner for many years, owning Bud's Cafe in Curry and an appliance store. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Belle Calvert and two brothers, Verlon and Offie Calvert. He is survived by his wife, Opaleen Calvert of Jasper; one son, Keith Calvert of Jasper; three daughters, Beverly Fincher and her husband, Kerry of Arley, Deborah Cook and her husband, Mitchell of Arley and Patty Sanders of Arley; five grandchildren, Brian Fincher, Todd Cook, Matt Cook, Cliff Cook, Camron Sanders, all of Arley; one great-grandchild, Calliegh Cook of Arley; two brothers, Dennis Arvel Calvert and Ovel Calvert, both of Cullman; and two sisters, Lillie Belle Posten and Mullice Calvert, both of Jasper.
