Bio

Eighth child of Henry Mallett and Mary Brimacombe Mallett. At the age of 22 he emigrated to Australia aboard the "Indian Queen" in 1853, accompanied by his older brother, Frederick. He married Louisa Watkinson nee Ellingworth at All Saints Church, South Yarra on June 19, 1859. The couple had seven children. Following her death on March 17, 1870, he was left with six surviving children: Adelaide, Alfred, Ellen, Emily, Arthur, Beatrice (dec) and Ernest. On December 17, 1872, he remarried Sarah Hinchcliff in the All Saints Church, St. Kilda. They had two children: Edith Jane Hinchcliff Mallett and Mabel Tatty Brimacombe Mallett.
