Anna Katherine Tate, 79, a resident of Russellville departed this earth on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Russellville. She was born October 29, 1931, on Lee Mountain near Dover to Charles and Nora Eubanks Staggs. She worked at the Furniture Factory in Waldron and Rheem in Fort Smith much of her life before retiring to Knoxville with her husband. Her yard was decorated with various colors of roses, which she loved to share. She attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She did not have children, but had many nephews and nieces that she was quite fond of. She was quiet spoken, prim and proper, the true example of traditional values. Aunt "K," as everyone knew her, lived with the effects of Alzheimer's for the past five years of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie Tate; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert Staggs, George Staggs, Charles and Lucille Staggs; and a sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Victor Jurcik. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mary Staggs of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five nephews and their wives, Gene and June Staggs of Fayetteville, Dennis and Taffy Staggs, Randall and Cathryn Staggs, all of Russellville, Kenny Staggs of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Raymond and Carol Jurcik of Dover; four nieces and their husbands, Anne Lee Hudson and Patrick Schluck of Bull Shoals, Joyce and Gerald White of Jacksonville, Sharon and Paul Barefoot of Muskogee and Marilyn and Frank Boyett of Tulsa; two special cousins, Joyce McCain of Russellville and Jeannie McCain of Dover, who frequently wisked her away for an eventful road trip often to an unbeknown location to Katherine; and several great-nephews and nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011, at North New Hope Cemetery at Dover with the Rev. Don Erwin officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Randall Staggs, Dennis Staggs, Raymond Jurcik, Gene Staggs and Kenny Staggs. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2405 East Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, Arkansas 72802. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Sarah Rader and Nannett of the Arkansas Hospice who are greatly appreciated for all of their help.
