Thanks to Contributor M. Jensen Seggerman, #47078678, for the following: Mildred Fujan was born on a farm east of Milligan on Nov. 17, 1906, to Emil and Anna (Honeska) Matejka. She passed away at the Heritage Nursing Home in Geneva on May 18, 1995, at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 1 day. She was one of four children in the family. She lived with her parents, helping them with the farm work and baking bread, gardening and sewing. On Sept. 28, 1926, she was united in marriage to William Fujan. One daughter was born to William and Mildred. Throughout her lifetime she always enjoyed raising chickens, ducks and geese. She helped her husband with the field work and always enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. Following the death of her husband, William, in 1978, she lived in Milligan, and due to her failing health, was admitted to Heritage of Geneva. She remained at Heritage until her death. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; her husband, William in June of 1978. Her life revolved around her family of grandchild, William and her daughter, Darlene (Ray) Hatten. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 20, with the Rev. Duane Russell officiating. Musical selections "The Lord's Prayer" and "Amazing Grace" were provided by the National Music Systems. Casket bearers were James E. Betka, Edward Fujan, Leo Fujan, Leo Laun, Alfred Matejka and Wayne Matejke. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery south of Milligan. The Nebraska Signal May 1995
