Matejka was born to Emil Matejka and Anna (Honicky) Matejka on January 22, 1916, at Milligan and passed away February 2, 1994, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 78 years, and 10 days. He was the youngest of seven children in the family. Alois attended the Prairie Queen School in District No. 48 in Saline County and then attended Milligan High School through the 11th grade. He then began to farm with his two brothers, William and Charles. Alois was married to Bertha Wilson of Tobias on April 30, 1947. They moved to the family farm and lived with Alois' parents. After the death of Alois' parents in 1965, Alois continued to farm and they remained on the family farm until 1989. They then moved to their new home in Milligan which they were very proud of. They remained in the Milligan area their whole lives. On February 20, 1992, Bertha passed away and Alois remained at their home in Milligan. He was always ready to help a neighbor or friend. Alois was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Anna; his wife, Bertha; three brothers, Emil, Edwin and Charles, and a sister, Mary. He is survived by a brother, William of Dorchester; a sister, Mildred Fujan of Geneva; a niece, two nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He was a very loving and kind brother, uncle,and friend. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home-Kotas Chapel in Milligan with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Jane Matejka accompanied Gen Samuelson who sang, "The Lord's Prayer" and a duet of Mr. Samuelson and Jane Matejka sang "Amazing Grace." Casket bearers were Ronald Korbelik, William Salesky, Joe Kaderabek, Alfred Matejka, Galen Steinacher and Don Matejka. Interment was in the Bohemian National Cemetery.
