Married May 3 1880 Sherman Co, NE ------------------------------------------------ Death Of Mrs. Mary Ella Talbot The community was surprised Sunday when it was announced that one of Sherman Counties [sic] old settlers had answered the last call and was called home to her maker. Mrs. Talbot had been suffering for some time and a short time ago was operated on and well on the road to recovery and was taken to her home last week, and on Saturday she took worse and went into sinking spells and passed away that evening. Mrs. Talbot had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Alonzo Daddow for the past several years, where she was at the time of her death. Mary Ella Fletcher was born May 3, 1861 near Nashua, Iowa and passed away December 10, 1927 being 66 years, 5 months and 7 days old. Deceased leaves to mourn her death two daughters, Mrs. Alonzo Daddow of Hastings, and Mrs. Park Paige of near Austin, one son, William of Hastings, four grandsons and three grand daughters. Four brothers, C. W. Fletcher of Loup City, W. S. Fletcher of Enders Lake, Nebr., S. C. Fletcher of Rockville and A. B. Fletcher of Kingston, Illinois. Two sisters, Mrs. J. F. Swain of Boelus, Nebr. and Mrs. G. G. Emery of Comstock, Nebraska. Mrs. Talbot was married to Dr. N. L. Talbot on May 3, 1880 and they came to Nebraska in 1878 [sic - Mary and her parents came to NE] and settled on a homestead one half mile west of the Wiggle Creek school house and was engaged with her husband in farming and in 1895 the family moved to Boelus where her husband practiced medicine for five years, and again moved on a farm near Austin. Her husband passed away on Christmas day December 25, 1913. Mrs. Fletcher engaged in teaching school and she has been engaged in educational work in Sherman and Howard county almost continuously up to about five years ago. The body was brought up from Hastings Monday afternoon and the services were held from the Presbyterian church at Austin and the body was laid to rest in the Austin cemetery. The services were in charge of the Presbyterian minister of Hastings and assisted by Rev. Meierhoff pastor of the church here and at Austin. Friends and neighbors from every....
