PAUL GLAUSE, 75 A Merna man spent many years in Nebraska Sand hills Mr. Paul Glause, 75 years of age, of Merna, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, April 8, 1974 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebraska, following considerable illness. Funeral rites for Mr. Glause were held on Thursday, April 11, 1974 at 2:00 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary Chapel in Broken Bow, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel (United Blaine Co. Larger Parish, United Church of Christ (Formerly Congregational) of Dunning, Nebraska, officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery at Merna, Custer County, Nebraska. Memorials were suggested in lieu of flowers to the Cancer Fund, in care of Mrs. Dwight Lyon of Merna. Funeral services were private. Mr. Glause is survived by his wife, Genevieve Glause of Merna, and six daughters, Mahala Thompson of Tryon, Nebr., Lois Jensen of Kearney, Nebr., Charlene Rhoades of Dunning, Nebr., Margaret A. Campbell of Denver, Colo., Judy Gushard of Lincoln, Nebr., and Linda Haumont of Bridgeport, Nebr., by 3 sons, Paul Glause, JR. of Oshkosh, Nebr., Roland W. Glause of Dunning, and Van E Glause of Merna, Nebr.; by 29 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and also by one sister, Lena Campbell of Stromsburg, Nebr. Paul Herman Glause, the son of William [Glause] and Mary Glause was born at Palmer, Nebraska on February 3, 1899. He was, when an infant, baptized in the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Palmer, Nebraska. At the age of 17 years, he moved with his parents, to a ranch north of Halsey in the sand hills of Nebraska. On October 5, 1926, he married Genevieve VanArdsdale. To this union, 9 children were born, all of whom now survive. They are Mrs. Mahala Thompson, Lois Jensen, Charlene Rhoades, Margaret Campbell, Judy Gushard, Linda Haumont, Roland W, Paul M. and Van E.. He lived in the communities of Halsey and Purdum, where for many years he was a rancher. In 1956, he moved to Merna, in Custer County, where he resided until his death April 8, 1974 in hospital at Kearney Nebraska at age of 75 years. At the funeral in Broken Bow, music was furnished by a granddaughter and her husband, Larry and Karla Estes and Joyce Dowse and Cleo Haynes. Pallbearers were his 5 sons-in-laws, Wallace Jensen, Claude Rhoades, Rodney Campbell, Stanley Gushard and Darrel Haumont and Billy Jensen.
